History
Vox Clara was founded by a group of Catholics and Protestants in 2007 at Stanford University. The goal was to produce a journal of Christian thought on campus that would provide a forum for exploring how faith intersects daily life, and engage the community in a dialogue about faith. The first edition of the journal was printed in the spring of 2008. In the 2008-2009 school year, the team produced an issue every quarter, and improved and expanded the design and vision of the organization. The Stanford chapter now seeks not only to engage the community and inspire a response to the Gospel message through publications, but also through organized events, such as bringing in speakers.
In an effort to better fund the chapter at Stanford University and to provide an avenue for expansion to other campuses, we decided to form Vox Clara, a national organization, in 2009. This organization's mission is to provide support, guidance, and sponsorship for the students on college campuses around the country to start and run their own Vox Clara chapters.
Christianity is not a religion that turns its back on the world, but rather exists to live in it, challenging and in turn being challenged by the sphere of humanity. The publications and programs of Vox Clara chapters are meant to be accessible to those of all faiths and beliefs. We hope you appreciate the need for discussion about the questions salient to our age, and that you find here and through our chapters, the material to inspire discussions on these topics. We, for our part, will strive to make Vox Clara an accurate reflection and clear voice of the Christian tradition.
